Baruch Habah! Welcome to Congregation Kol Ami. We are delighted that you have chosen to explore our vibrant, progressive congregation and consider adding your voice to the many voices that make up Kol Ami – Voice of My People.
Our Temple was founded in 1992 with a unique vision: to be a progressive, Reform congregation rooted in a rich Jewish tradition, with a commitment to social justice, Israel and diversity that guides us in the present and transforms our future. We believe in widening the tent to all.
Kol Ami is the significant Jewish voice in West Hollywood and reflects the diversity of this city. All are welcome here – lesbian, gay, straight, and bisexual Jews, their family and friends, interfaith couples, Jews by choice and by birth and Jews of color. Our Jewish voice and presence in the community is also a voice of conscience, reason and compassion, creating a link between our spirituality and our commitment to social justice.
Kol Ami is affiliated with the Reform movement and the Union of Reform Judaism. We seek to embrace the heritage of our people and make it our own in a new, vibrant way, so that we can carry Judaism into the 21st century and beyond.
At Kol Ami we are not afraid to question the tradition, while at the same time honoring it. In this way, we hope to create a unique blend of tradition and innovation. We are a community engaged in Jewish experience, culture, social activity, and education, incorporating gender equality, feminist Jewish theology and diverse sexual identities in theology and practice.
We look forward to welcoming you into our community, and hope that you will become involved in the life of our congregation.
